The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Anything back?

From what I've read, if Flickr themselves deleted it for some reason then it's gone for good. But how did my Pro subscription get cancelled whilst I was sleeping.....?

The only thing I can think of is..... Someone got into my account, cancelled my Pro, maybe done other stuff, uploaded a load of porn, Flickr acted & deleted it all...... Obviously didn't look that the account is 11 years old, has always been Pro (I think), my Pro was only renewed 3 weeks ago & it contained 100% "safe" photos......:mad:

I had the Tokina 20mm f2 in my basket twice on different sites but never pressed the buy button. Don't know if I can resist.

Do it, do it, do it
You know you want it :)

I also want the Voigtlander 50mm f2.

Here's Fred Miranda's review against the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2, 65mm f2 and Sony 50mm f1.4.

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1625777

He says...

"The highly anticipated Voigtlander 50/2 APO-Lanthar hits the market and scores a huge win for the Sony E-mount.

After putting the apochromatic 50mm lens under great scrutiny, it delivered exceptional performance while maintaining IQ at all distances. At infinity and wide open, it is already excellent across the entire image field and basically achieves perfection one stop down at f/2.8. It matches and in some cases exceeds the outstanding resolution from lenses like the Voigtlander 65/2 APO-Lanthar and Sony 50/1.4 ZA, making it a perfect companion to the Sony A7R IV 60MP sensor!

At minimal focus distance, it's impeccable from wide open, thanks to the floating element (FLE) system. All of this while delivering smooth and neutral rendering.

The lack of color aberration, high resolution/contrast and normal focal length, makes it a solid option as a walk-around lens for street, portraits and landscapes. The Voigtlander 50/2 APO-Lanthar is compact, light and has superb image quality. If you are a Sony shooter you need to do everything in your power to get ahold of this lens as soon as possible. I don't know how I can be more clear: This is the absolute soul-mate to the Sony 60MP sensor."

I nearly pre ordered this but as I have the Sony 55mm f1.8 and Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 do I really need another similar lens? Of course I do.

Hoping they can get to the bottom of it and get you back up and running.

Got a grovel from the CEO this morning? Still losing money, needs to increase pro subscription a bit this year but needs new members etc. Doesn’t sound like they’re making enough headway with it.

I had that. And I had this....

Woohoo! I know Flickr isn't what it was, but I do like it.

There has been quite a few offers on the German Amazon site over the last few days for Samyang lenses.

Yesterday they had the 45 f/1.8 for 269 euros which works out at about £229.

Today they have the 35 f/2.8 for 189 euros which works out at about £161.

They also have the 14mm at 469 euros which works out at about £400 https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01M02ZXSM/

And the 35 f/1.4 is 439 euros which works out at about £375 https://www.amazon.de/dp/B004CS20MC

I've finally made a decision on the 70-200 f4 after procrastinating for the last 3-4 months! I've just boxed it up ready for MPB to pick it up tomorrow. Its probably for the best as I don't use it enough and the 24-105 and 100-400 can cover the whole focal range. It will be weird not owning a 70-200 lens as I've own one of some sort for the last 5-6 years, though selling it could potentially make funds available to swap to an A9 so not that bad really.

Sony A9 is a worthy upgrade :)
I hardly use my GM lenses but I am feeling a little strange that I have them up for sale.

Good news.

True but it’s not that big of a jump to justify the price difference for me, the A9 is more than enough for most non-professionals :)
I’m looking forward to the A9 III :D

You of left Sony by then lol

These are very nice photos (with a super subject of course) and I am much tempted by that 135.

A few days ago I was in a shop on Rathbone Place in London which has really good stock on display, checking out the lenses and binoculars. Looking at the size of the latest fast sigma lenses, I immediatley thought "no regrets going down the Loxia road, expensive though they may be"
Am on holiday in Northumberland and have brought 25mm, 50mm and 100mm trioplan.
but... an autofocus 135 would be the cherry on the cake

Errmm

The A9 is absolute overkill for non professionals and probably quite a few pro's as well.

The A9II is just the same camera with 2 x UHSII slots and a deeper grip.

He won't be getting an A9II either his z7 is worth about a tenner as a trade in.
Yeah cos that's all it's worth

If Nikon haven't brought anything out with great AF by the time the A9-II has come down in price then I very well may make the switch.

By the time Nikon does that, there'll be a MK3 and the MK2 will be 2K and the Nikon 4k.

Very true. When the A9-II approaches the £2k mark grey that's when I'll make a serious decision.

by that point your Z7 will be worth even less. The difference you will pay to change will not be much different by waiting unless you plan on waiting like 3-5 years.
So why wait like 3 year for sake for couple hundred and put up with inferior system.

Get the sony

A few reasons. I'm keen to see what Nikon do, I don't have the funds right now and in a year or so's time I'll have had time to save (y). I'm in no rush to anything, I really like the Z7.
