I prefer backpacks for my bags but if I am out and about I tend to shoot with on camera then a messenger style works.Morning all,
I’m looking for some inspiration for a camera bag.
For reference my main set up will be my newly purchased Z6ii with the Z 24-120 f4 attached. At home I normally have it out on my desk, so I’m looking for something small that I can use to carry this set up when going out with maybe a spare battery & card.
Also one question I have, is it safe to place the camera with lens attached in a bag sideways. So with the hand grip faceing up?
Thanks

That said I think you will get a 1001 different perspectives on this and you can only see what works best for you. Have fun.
Look at something like the Lowepro toploaderMorning all,

It doesn't really matter, as long as it's well protected. If you had a much bigger lens then it's important that its weight isn't pulling on the cameras mount.Thank you
Is carrying the camera lens down with body attached, like it would be in a top loader, safer/better for the camera, than say on its side in a messenger type bag?
Or is it safe either way so just comes down to personal preference?
I use a peak design 6L sling for that set-up (z7+ 24-120). Works a treat with camera/lens sideways.Morning all,

That’s a nice case! And brilliant it works well with the same set up + being sidewaysI use a peak design 6L sling for that set-up (z7+ 24-120). Works a treat with camera/lens sideways.

Tenba make a nice range of messenger style & back packs. Good quality too.Morning all,

No I never bother. That’s a nice case! And brilliant it works well with the same set up + being sideways
One question - do you put anything under the side of the lens? Like to fill the gap between the lens and the bottoms of the bag, when it’s attached to the camera sideways?
Ah yes, in fact I think I’ve previously had a Tenba case. Knowing now that carrying the camera with lens attached on its side is safe and okay, it has made me look at more optionsTenba make a nice range of messenger style & back packs. Good quality too.
Oh perfect! That’s exactly what i had in mind. As I say once home I leave the lens attached still, but it sits on my desk and then once I’m at a destination, most of the time I take it out the bag and carry around my neck/shoulder on the strap. No I never bother.
I ususally take the divider out.
Camera hand grip facing upwards.
I have one of these that I mainly use for my Z50 and 3 lenses when on holiday, but with the dividers removed it will hold my Z5 with the 24-200 lens attached.Morning all,

Most CFExpress readers do not read XQD cards.Well, after many years of shooting professionally with Nikon bodies with dual card slots, I finally had an issue yesterday.
Wedding Tuesday, Commercial shoot both Wednesday and Thursday and midway through Thursday, my Nikon Z8 continued writing to my primary XQD card but it didn't back up to the SD card. Cant put a reason on why it happened but the files are there on the XQD and not on the SD.
I usually put the SD card in my Mac. Discovered it when I was backing up my files last night. Then realised my Z8 doesnt mount as a drive in Mac OS.
So now I need a XQD reader. Do I have to buy a specific XQD reader or would a CF Express B one work too? (bearing in mind the primary slot is XQD/CF Express B compatible). I'm assuming so but just wanted to check before I ordered one. Thanks in advance.
thanks so much for confirming, got a xqd reader coming tomorrow nowMost CFExpress readers do not read XQD cards.
The only one I have come across is a Sony model, which expressly advertises this particular model as reading both. I can't remember the model.
All the other Sony models and models from other makers I looked at recently (Lexar, Prograde, Delkin plus others) were CF express only or XQD only.
This wasn't an exhaustive search, but enough to show that you can't assume a CFExpress reader will also read XQD cards
I think that the Lowepro and Crumpler ranges are difficult to beat.Thank you!
Really appreciate your thoughts, give me something to consider

Useful to know, thank you!The Nikon deep monochrome profile with a tad of added contrast, RAW in LR.
How do you find the lens? Apart from the dim aperture I've been pleased with mine.Talen with 28-400 at F8. F11 or F13 would probably have been better.
No experience of using one, but I did have a good look at those before going for the Tamron 17-35 - the main issue (for me) was lack of a filter thread and cost/inconvenience of specialist filtersHi
Anyone use the Tamron 15-30 f2.8 first version (Non G2) with their z body?
For some reason it seems a lot of the Tamron 17-35 that were available last week have all gone so thinking of the 15-30 for the occasion use on the z6ii and D750.
Thank you
Thank you, as per your suggestion was looking for the Tamron 17-35 and close to getting one, but when I look at MBP and Wex neither have them in stock today, where as on Friday there one at Wex and multiple at MBP.No experience of using one, but I did have a good look at those before going for the Tamron 17-35 - the main issue (for me) was lack of a filter thread and cost/inconvenience of specialist filters

Yep, just weird that they all went over the weekend. Hoping there is an issue and they show up as need something for the 15/08 if at all possible. That's rather frustrating!

Does this photo work, taken from a recent trip to Gnoll Park? The wife likes it but I'm not too sure.

Looking for something budget due to the very occasional use that I may make of it. Budget was around £300 but could push to under £400.Why not get the 14-30 Z lens?

Thank you, will add that to the list to look at.OK. Before I got the 14-30 I purchased a mint Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 AF-S for under £300. Worked well on both the ZF and ZFC.
